Why we ask
Independent restaurant journalism is rare for a reason. The economics of the city's other guides depend on commission, affiliate fees, paid placements, or sponsored content — all of which compromise the editorial position the moment money changes hands.
A reader-funded model lets us refuse the lot. Member contributions cover the editorial team, the verification visits, the photography, the hosting. There is no advertising department because there are no advertisers. There is no SEO incentive because the guide is not optimised for search above editorial truth.
