The Masthead
A small editorial team. A long memory. An obvious bias toward restaurants worth a second visit.
A guide written by people who eat here
The Pattaya Restaurant Guide is an independent editorial publication built around one premise: a city this complex needs a guide written by people who actually live here, eat here, and have eaten the alternatives.
We are not a tourist site, a deal aggregator, or an algorithm. We do not accept payment for placement. We do not list restaurants we have not visited within the last six months. The guide is reader-funded, low-volume, and unfashionably slow on purpose — quarterly issues, hand-edited, under permanent revision.
Each restaurant page on this site reflects multiple visits, often years of attention, and a careful read of how the kitchen has actually performed against its own claims. The result is fewer entries than a directory, more depth than a review aggregator, and an editorial position we are willing to defend.
The methodology
Every entry is verified for hours, prices, signature dishes, and ownership before publication, and re-verified quarterly. When a restaurant changes ownership, chef, or address, the entry is updated within fourteen days. When we judge that a restaurant has fallen below our threshold for inclusion, the entry is retired publicly, with a note explaining why.
We do not accept payment for placement, paid reviews, sponsored entries, or affiliate revenue from reservation platforms. The guide is reader-funded through optional newsletter membership and one-time contributions. Any commercial relationship with a restaurant — past, present, or potential — is disclosed at the foot of the relevant page.
Letters to the editors
Tip-offs, corrections, opening notices, and disagreements all welcomed. We read everything; we cannot promise to reply to everything. The shorter and more specific the letter, the more likely it is to make the next issue.
An independent, hand-researched directory of where to actually eat in Pattaya, Thailand. Hand-picked by editors, verified within the last six months, no paid placements.
